Morkůvky is a small village in the South Moravia, one of the most traditional part of the Czech Republic. See Morkůvky on the
zoomable map.
People live in this area since the dawn of culture. You can see the Pálava Hills from the vineyards in Morkůvky where
'the Dolni Vestonice Venus' was found.
This small statue of woman is the oldest ceramic statue ever found. Allthough I was born in Jihlava and grew up in Třeboň I have also roots in South Moravia. My grandfather divorced with mother's mom soon and the families had no contact until I have found him as a
school art project.
Unfortunately we met only twice and he died so the assigned task title 'The Highest Time' showed very significant.
In Morkůvky was born and burried 'General of the Sky'
František Peřina, Second World War fighter pilot.
Many of my paintings were inspired by being in Morkůvky.
'The Flight Over Autumnal Moravia' is a good example. Some were created there like
'The Garret Series' which is the mysterious witch 'Ema' painted in trance, naked magician 'Xenie' and 'Sturgeon Vilma' made of tea.
We used to do some rituals with Barbara like celebrating the New Year's Eve on the Jew's Field which is located in the middle of wood south to Morkůvky. On the last December before midnight we climb to the hill with bottle and rockets, stay
there alone in the darkness for some time and then go back down the hill to meet world in the new year.
Below are some pictures shot in October 2006 by me and Barbara. We enjoyed the autumn alone in the orchard. I wish to live and paint in my permaculture garden in spirit of
Anastasia and I hope that I will buy some nice piece of land in Morkůvky in future.
