Great Gerhard in our small country!
(Brno, 10.2.2005) Believe it or not - when I heard last time a metaphor of Gerhard Richter as an equivalent of Kylie Minogue (=star) on the our scene, and I mentioned this metaphor in the latest report from Prague, I did not know, that just His exhibition has been preparing "a piece far from my house". In Brno House of Art takes place an exhibition of this contemporary painting giant who so often stands out of the main trends. Today this rich man teaches painting on one german academy and is the most appreciated living artist. That's a pity that you did not come personally, Gerhard!
Brno House of Art joined together three exhibitions: retrospective show of Joze Plecnik, students of FA VUT and Richter's show.
The items are selected by the author, the curator is Jana Vránová. But those who came to see the younfg architects were bored soon and by director Horáček's back massively moved to the exposition.
I have heard some negative opinions of young artists to installation ("...hey dude, it is under a glass, just like Mona Lisa"). The reasons of secure adjusting are acceptable - and so rather under such glass than nothing. Unfortunately - no wine, no water, no snacks on the table...
There were exhibited also his photographs - except well known abstract paintings. Those black-and-white photos picturing details of color-mass (as a landscape) are really great! Gerhard Richter communicates between photography and painting in both directions. Btw. until this time it was possible to see his donation of a tens of canvases in Düsseldorf...
And before leaving - last sight to nice young people..

Underground in Leitnerka Club
To make a harmony and be well balanced - this is a very underground show - exhibition of Martina L. Švarcová at Leitnerka Club. More info is visible when mouse on:
One of the main interesting principles closing to the Radikala line is art-brut, non-artistic art and amateur art. Click on the left photo and enjoy one of the newest cooperations in this field of authenticity. The right one leads to another interesting artistic presentation. Benedikt Tolar is neither amateur nor outsider artist but although he is Radical.
"Radex, sit down! What the hell do you do?! Oh damn, you chopped that Reflex where they were writing about us!
" Radik is angry with dog, but actually he should be angry with visitors, who'd like to consume but who don't want to participate on the common work.
It is not so fair with the doggie! Please don't hesitate and put here down your last intensive art experience please. "Radex, come on - place!!!"
Hennessy&Leoš&Lucka&...&art
Radikála as a spy on one controversial party of high society.
By one painting and through assistance of one beautiful girl Radikála was invited to join this special party called Hennessy Revolution Party 2005 which took place on the 1st Feb 2005 in Hegertova cihelna in Prague. This is a short report about background and run of this commercial propagation of hard spirit, which was the main purpose of it. The report is more similar to reality than fast made of "colleagues" from Czech shitboulvard Blesk (Flash).
Of course, the food was great.
Hennessy corporation, still be the biggest producer of fine french cognac during eight generations. This company announced a competition "Hennessy&Art". For a lot of you now started to blink a red allert, well let it be. But we would like to believe, that pure hold and maintenance for young artists provided by rich companies is a real good. Unfortunately in this case the hold was not so hot.. There got out a smudge on the thing during the competition process. It was all in the hands of proffessional PR agencies. The smudge inhered in the "re-selection" of other artworks after the regular competition finished. Who were the re-sellectors? Design Center of Czech Republic. Thereto it was nice meeting of TV stars, winners of Miss competition etc.
One of the finalists of Czech Pop Idol Petr Poláček. Is he interested in contemporary painting? (On the fig with comic Patrik Hezucký)
In fact anything wrong happened. Except this fact - paintings and sculptures which were said to be partaking a competition for some side-prize were only used as a decorative bush by the stage sides. While loading the driver did not know from which "company"! he is loading and what is he loading. He did not know any standard procedures related with artworks delivery. (He did have any rope, anything..)
"There was more African models than paintings and they were for everybody more interested too."
At about 10 pm was the winner known. These three girls are the finalists: Štěpánka Brodecká (VŠUP Prague), Andrea Kvasnicová (VŠVU Bratislava) a Jana Kochánková (Academy Prague). Who did mark out the winner? The party visitors! And the winner is: Andrea Kvasnicová from Slovakia. She obtained 20.000,- and a trip to Paris, many similar wins obtained also people who were boozing in premium bars and sending lots gotted by the long drinks, and also alloted visitors of this evening. A message: You can both booze expensive drinks and make art to merit the same reward! Another descent of fine arts.
Congratulations to Andrea - enjoy Paris! :-)
Speaker of the evening, threating cloud for all drivers, rowdy Leoš Mareš, was smart, cheeky and immediate. Such as behind the wheel such as always...
Leoš and paintings from Brno Arts Academy a little bit out in the cold.
Then ("after boring art") was singing and dancing Czech-Slovak star Dara Rolins. She said that one of the songs was specially for her written by Kylie Minogue. Great - it can hardly happen that Gerhard Richter would predraw a painting for one of us!
I don't know where did you spend your days on holiday, dear friends, but watch a report from a few of actions in South Bohemia. Firstly let's look on the exhibition of southbohemian art schools (high schools) which took place in communistic House of Culture "Metropol" in České Budějovice (Budweiss). The best works came from Český Krumlov school (St. Anežka) There was also exhibited a diploma work from Educational Faculty of Southbohemian University. It gives a straight message: when you leave high school, leave the region too.
In Trebon, small town, was ArtFest (week of art actions, music, workshops, exhibitions, lectures) preparing. (Thanks to city grant, maecenaus Karel Babicek, Trebon development society etc.)
Young people decided to manage in their home something, what they miss (and state instituitons don't make for them) In city theater were lectures of Dr. Petr Spielmann dr.h.c., prof. JUDr. Vladimír Franz,
Jaroslav Róna M.A., Dr. Vít Soukup, in middleage houses in the center of town were exhibitions of: Veronika Bromová, Martin Mainer, Vladimír Franz, Ida Saudková, Vít Soukup, Jan Miko, Vladimír Hruška,
Jirka Lukeš etc., and also a selection of more than 100 paintings made by people participating on workshops. Part - sponsored concert of Idiosyncratics (BE) and
leading Czech drummer and percussist Pavel Fajt.
Next year we recommend to make some smaller action, more familiar.

The end of holidays, back in České Budějovice. Powl de Grado in Café Ambient - very nice and also succesful. Congratulation!
In the same time on the next side of the square, another southbohemian painter - Petr Písařík and his works, paintings and objects. He lives in Prague, but is former citizen of Trebon. What does "Domá ni" (title of his exhibition) mean? Why are the chairs bondaged? (It's worse for sitting then.) If the sticks - red hearts, are there on the place of description in the author's eyes, what should disagreeing visitor do? Quo Vadis Pietro? Although strong exhibition, isn't it?
On the end, we visited a gallery (" At A Golden...something) short piece from the square. We found there amazing home decorations, so great that we didnt wait for something and made these secret photos.

5 shows (Brno rulez)
photoreportage
There were 5 openings of exhibitions on Thursday, 15th April 2004. Three of these took place in Brno House Of Art.
Dr. Horáček the director of Brno House Of Art.
First exhibited paintings were works of Miroslav Pánek. The first Czech lyric abstractionist. Doctor Valoch , curator of it had a short speech about Pánek's political problems etc.
Before the second opening we could listen to madrigal of Bohuslav Martinů by duo of virtuos violinists. Also exhibition of Tomáš Lampar, located in the first floor introduced Jiří Valoch. The author was looking shy but seriously.
And again the choirmaster Oldřich Hloušek and the choir Antea. Janáček suits them.
Before the third opening we examined in Gallery of Jaroslav Král great Pánek. Something like in the historical museum, but at the end he made us.....ethnoparade.
Then it looks like lyric abstraction is everywhere.

Petr Brožka - Kaprun, Pražák´s palace, Brno, EU
Heil SNBoarding, let´s make fun !
I have seen Petr Brožka´s exhibition Kaprun a few weeks ago.
He is a former student of doc. MgA. Petr Kvíčala at Faculty of Fine Arts in Brno and also my friend.
His acrylic paintings are picture of himself - good guy, who is fun with and who has been studying at Kvíčala´s studio.
But it must be said, that he and also P. Ryška are the most different artists who came through it.
The critical site of the coin could be the words of Zbyněk Linhart :
"It is no painting (for me). It is coloring."
